One archive, different rights

This website contains or references compositions, lyrics and poetry, sound recordings, performances, arrangements, photographs, artwork, films, interviews and editorial writing. These categories can carry separate rights and rightsholders.

Music and compositions

Musical and literary works are protected when legal requirements are met. Authorship, publishing and collecting-society administration vary by work. Where rights are administered by GEMA or another collecting society, the relevant repertoire and licensing rules apply.

Recordings and performers

Rights in a composition are distinct from rights in a master recording and from performers' neighbouring rights. References to Kaba Music Records, GEMA or GVL do not mean that one party owns every recording or every right.

Photography, artwork and film

Photographs, cover artwork and audiovisual works remain subject to their creators' and rightsholders' rights. Publication here is not a general licence for third-party reuse.

Press and archival material

Historical press material, quotations, scans and references may be presented for documentation where legally permitted. Third-party rights remain with their respective rightsholders.
